Staff AI Engineer (L4)

Location: Remote, but must reside within 30 miles of Portland, Maine; Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; San Jose, California; or Seattle, Washington.

What you will do

• Translate customer and business challenges into technical designs and AI strategies with stakeholders and domain experts.
• Architect, build, and deploy scalable, reliable, secure AI/ML platforms, tools, and model-serving systems.
• Lead the development, evaluation, fine-tuning, and monitoring of production-grade AI/ML models, including LLM and RAG solutions.
• Design standardized CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Monitor system health, lead critical incident response, and drive architectural refactoring to remove bottlenecks.
• Mentor L1/L2 engineers, conduct code reviews, and evaluate emerging AI technologies and vendors.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as an AI/ML Engineer, Data Scientist, or Software Engineer focused on production ML systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Production experience taking AI solutions from concept to high-scale deployment using Python, Java, Go, or C#.
• Deep experience with Generative AI, prompting, RAG, fine-tuning, and agentic workflows.
• Strong distributed systems, microservices, MLOps, Kubernetes, cloud, CI/CD, Terraform, data engineering, SQL, and NoSQL expertise.
• Advanced knowledge of probability, statistics, and linear algebra, plus experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or vLLM.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in AI/ML.
• Experience in the financial or fintech industry.
• Experience with AWS, feature stores, data lakes, and processing pipelines.
