TL;DR

What you will do

  • Define and implement security requirements for automotive ECU hardware and embedded software, including secure boot, HSMs, cryptographic key management, and secure communications.
  • Coordinate with Tier-1 suppliers, review cybersecurity deliverables, analyze security concepts, and track technical issue resolution.
  • Participate in threat analysis and risk assessments to identify attack vectors, threat scenarios, and risk levels.
  • Evaluate security controls for CAN, CAN-FD, Automotive Ethernet, and LIN networks, including SecOC.
  • Perform security verification, code analysis reviews, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing on bench environments and target hardware.
  • Support compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE UN R155/R156 throughout the system development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent hands-on project or internship experience.
  • 0–2 years of professional, academic, or internship experience in cybersecurity, embedded systems, or automotive engineering.
  • Basic understanding of embedded architectures, microcontrollers, RTOS, and C/C++ programming.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, or Automotive Ethernet.
  • Understanding of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, hashing, PKI, and secure boot mechanisms.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating technical requirements with suppliers and engineering teams.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with ISO/SAE 21434, AUTOSAR SecOC, and UN R155/R156.
  • Experience with Vector CANoe, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or JTAG debuggers.
  • Entry-level certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CEH, or relevant embedded and automotive security training.
