TL;DR
Sr. Software Engineer - Windows Sensor (Cybersecurity) (C++/Windows Internals): Designing and implementing detection technologies in Falcon Sensor to identify, prevent, and respond to malicious activity across Windows systems with an accent on kernel- and user-mode development, threat research, and high-performance telemetry. Focus on analyzing adversary techniques, building reliable low-level security features, and delivering sensor capabilities from concept through production and post-release support.
Location: Hybrid role based in Redmond, WA; Sunnyvale, CA; Austin, TX; New York City, NY; or Toronto, ON, with at least two days per week in the office.
Salary: $140,000–$215,000 USD per year for U.S. candidates, or $150,000–$200,000 CAD per year for Canada-based employment, plus variable compensation, equity, and benefits.

What you will do
- Design and build detection logic and systems for identifying cyberattacks and preventing breaches.
- Research malicious activity and adversary techniques using reverse engineering, threat analysis, and large-scale data analysis.
- Extend Falcon Sensor capabilities with C++, Python, domain-specific languages, and other engineering tools.
- Develop and maintain user-mode and kernel-mode components that collect telemetry and provide prevention and remediation.
- Own features throughout design, implementation, testing, release, troubleshooting, and post-release support.
- Collaborate across teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to quality, performance, secure coding, CI/CD, and code review practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and delivering Windows software using C, C++, or other low-level programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating system internals, components, APIs, and architecture.
- Experience or demonstrated interest in reverse engineering, threat detection, malware analysis, or related security areas.
- Ability to lead, mentor, communicate, and collaborate effectively in a globally distributed team.
- Proven experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, workflows, efficiency, and business outcomes.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada is required for Canada-based employment; background checks may apply.
Nice to have
- Experience with EDR or sensor products.
- Experience with OS kernels, firmware, device drivers, exploit analysis, or vulnerability research.
- Experience with high-availability systems, big data, automated testing infrastructure, or frontier AI/LLM technologies.
