Location: Hybrid role requiring at least three days per week in an office in Washington, D.C., or Culver City; residence must be in an -supported U.S. location. The position includes Thursday–Monday scheduling with evening weekday hours and daytime weekend hours.
Salary: $49.28 per hour, equivalent to approximately $7,885 per month based on 160 hours.

What you will do
- Manage homepage surfaces on .org and the app, including member-station stories and audio and video content.
- Write and edit headlines, social copy, push alerts, and other display language for planned and breaking news.
- Create headline tests and use audience metrics, search trends, and real-time analytics to guide editorial decisions.
- Distribute journalism through third-party platforms such as Apple News and Flipboard.
- Conduct keyword research and advise on SEO for daily news coverage.
- Monitor changing news demands, recommend assignments, and maintain accuracy, fairness, and News standards under deadline pressure.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience editing and managing branded social accounts on deadline, preferably at a news organization.
- Professional journalism experience and demonstrated excellence in digital writing and editing.
- Strong news judgment and familiarity with AP Style.
- Ability to work quickly under deadline pressure, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, a writing-intensive discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Willingness to work Thursday through Monday, including evenings and weekends, and to meet the hybrid office requirement.
