What you will do

• Cover Chicago and Midwest news across web, app, social media, and streaming platforms.
• Gather breaking news via phone calls, social media verification, and collaboration with field reporters.
• Apply SEO strategies and Google Trends to optimize content and drive audience growth.
• Produce multimedia content including video clips, live streams, and slideshows.
• Collaborate with news producers to cross-promote on-air and online content.
• Execute all publishing workflows for text, images, and video.

Requirements

• Unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
• Minimum 1.5 years of experience in a newsroom.
• Proficiency in AP Style writing and outstanding communication skills.
• Working knowledge of SEO and Google Trends.
• Experience covering news on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings with flexible shift availability.

Nice to have

• Experience writing for a newspaper or news website for at least one year.
• Ability to write in both Spanish and English.
• In-depth knowledge of Chicago-area news and politics.
• Experience with content management systems and video editing tools.
