Facility/Utilities Engineer (Pharmaceutical Manufacturing)

Location: Wilson, North Carolina, United States of America; onsite, first-shift daytime schedule; 10% travel; domestic relocation listed.

Salary: $117,000–$184,200 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive if applicable.

What you will do

• Provide technical support for the Wilson site’s Energy Center, vaccine manufacturing facility, quality laboratories, and packaging facility.
• Lead mechanical utility system improvements, optimization initiatives, capital projects, productivity enhancements, and corrective actions.
• Manage contributors, contractors, allocated resources, expense budgets, and plant engineering equipment replacement or upgrade projects.
• Investigate deviations and review engineering records and GMP documentation, coordinating with Operations, Automation, Quality, and other site partners.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for utility systems including USP water, HVAC, electrical distribution, chillers, boilers, AHUs, PLCs, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, clean steam, and related equipment.
• Develop maintenance training, troubleshoot utility equipment, and implement reliable processes meeting cGMP requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in engineering or technology; other scientific disciplines may be considered with strong, relevant, and direct experience.
• Five or more years of facility or utility experience.
• Three or more years of industrial mechanical experience with HVAC, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, refrigeration, air compressors, air dryers, and hot water skids.
• Familiarity with cGMPs and regulatory requirements.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Technical writing and deviation investigation skills.
• Experience improving and optimizing utility, HVAC, and refrigerant system processes.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, communicate difficult concepts, collaborate across site functions, and manage resources and budgets.

Nice to have

• cGMP experience in a pharmaceutical environment.
• Experience with root cause analysis, FMEA, and/or Lean Six Sigma tools.
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, ASME, and NFPA code requirements.
• Automation or BAS experience.
• Experience with deviation management, troubleshooting, and resolving manufacturing anomalies.
• At least three years of supervisory or project management experience.
