Location: UK-based role with a balanced hybrid working model; candidates must live within commuting distance of the Milton Park office and attend three days per week. The office is expected to relocate to Oxford city centre in late 2027 or early 2028. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.

What you will do
- Develop annual editorial plans covering peer-reviewed research, commissioned content, special features, and multimedia initiatives.
- Coordinate commissioned content from proposal through publication, including review processes, author pipelines, schedules, and honoraria budgets.
- Monitor submission, readership, citation, social media, and impact metrics and prepare performance reports.
- Maintain academic, editorial, research ethics, copyediting, proofreading, design, and production standards.
- Coordinate Editorial Board members, Guest Advisors, authors, reviewers, production colleagues, and publishers.
- Represent the journal at conferences, handle author and reader enquiries, and manage appeals and complaints.
Requirements
- Operational experience in a fast-paced publishing environment with complex, multi-format editorial workflows.
- Experience managing peer-review processes for academic journals and strong knowledge of scholarly publishing standards.
- Knowledge of publication workflows, research ethics, bibliometric tools, journal impact metrics, and alternative engagement indicators.
- Excellent organisation, project management, written and verbal communication, analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to maintain accuracy under strict deadlines and lead collaborative editorial work.
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK and be able to commute to the Milton Park office three days per week.

- Magazine publishing experience and knowledge.
- Experience with visual storytelling, thematic issues, accessible commentary, or multimedia editorial formats.
