TL;DR
Junior Data Scientist (Fintech): Developing fraud and AML monitoring solutions within a Centre of Excellence with an accent on data engineering, anomaly detection, and cloud architecture. Focus on building scalable data pipelines in Azure Databricks, automating suspicious transaction isolation, and performing complex data modelling to prevent financial crime.
Location: Must be based in or able to work from Stirling or Edinburgh, UK (Flexible working arrangements available)

What you will do
- Design and build fraud and anti-money laundering monitoring capabilities across the business.
- Act as the team expert for Azure Databricks and Power BI, supporting team upskilling.
- Investigate suspicious transactions from a data perspective and build automation to isolate fraudulent behaviors.
- Develop scalable, repeatable data solutions and best practices within a recognized Centre of Excellence.
- Perform ETL tasks and logical/physical data modelling by joining data from multiple sources.
- Conduct ongoing data quality assessments to ensure accurate ingestion into monitoring tools.
Requirements
- Strong technical foundation in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing using Spark clusters.
- Proficiency in the Azure ecosystem, specifically Azure Databricks, Data Factory, and DevOps.
- Experience with reporting and insight generation tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Ability to translate business problems into analytical solutions and communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Must be based in the UK.
