TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Guarded OS) (Go/Kubernetes): Building and operating the Kubernetes-based Elastic Build platform and package update services that produce secure, production-ready hirify.global OS artifacts with an accent on reliability, scalability, multi-architecture support, and automation. Focus on designing distributed production systems, automating package rebuild and review workflows, and improving observability, incident response, and operational efficiency.

Location: Remote within the United States; remote-first work with occasional team meetups and destination summits.

What you will do

• Build, operate, and improve Elastic Build, a Kubernetes-based pipeline for converting package specifications into production-ready artifacts.
• Maintain and evolve Melange, focusing on stability, testing, patch management, observability, and operational excellence.
• Design automation for package rebuild, review, and dependency analysis workflows while preserving meaningful human review.
• Develop monitoring, dashboards, alerting, and automated remediation to reduce operational toil.
• Help define the roadmap for hirify.global OS build and update services and contribute to distro-level package updates.
• Document system architecture and operational practices and participate in cross-team incident response.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with backend or distributed systems.
• Strong experience developing production services in Go.
• Experience designing and operating production systems at scale, including on-call rotations, incident response, and reliability improvements.
• Strong Linux systems knowledge and experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native application design.
• Experience with developer platforms, CI/CD infrastructure, internal tooling, or large-scale multi-tenant B2B SaaS platforms.
• Experience with Terraform, modern CI/CD pipelines, and debugging distributed systems; regular use of AI-assisted development tools with sound judgment about automation and human review.

Nice to have

• Experience with Cloud Run, AWS, Azure, GCP services, or Kubernetes operators and custom controllers.
• Experience with build systems, Linux packaging, software supply chain tooling, or ARM64 build environments.
• Observability experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or Cloud Logging.
• Experience using BigQuery or Looker Studio for operational analysis and reporting.
• Experience measuring and analyzing cloud infrastructure costs.
