What you will do
- Implement, tune, and test mapping, localization, and sensor calibration algorithms using C++ and Python.
- Develop tooling and metrics for performance validation and continuous testing frameworks.
- Debug and analyze algorithm performance using real-world and simulated sensor data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with vehicle infrastructure, hardware, and other autonomy teams (Perception, Decision, Planning, and Control).
- Take ownership of scoped components to ensure safe and efficient autonomous driving for next-generation vehicles.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a similar technical field.
- Must be based in or able to work on-site in Mountain View, CA.
- 2–4 years of experience building robotics or autonomous vehicle software (including internships or research).
- Proficiency in C++ and Python within a collaborative software environment.
- Strong foundation in probability theory, linear algebra, 3D geometry, and spatial coordinate transformations.
- Familiarity with 3D Lidar-based mapping (e.g., LOAM, GICP) and state estimation frameworks (e.g., EKFs, GTSAM, G2O, Ceres-Solver).
Nice to have
- Experience with GPU programming and CUDA.
- Hands-on experience tuning or deploying algorithms on physical robots or vehicles.
- Knowledge of camera-based SLAM and 3D multi-view geometry.
- Experience working with ROS2 to design and operate robotic systems.
- Academic publications, patents, or notable open-source contributions.
