TL;DR
Director, Key Opinion Leader Marketing, Rare Disease (Rare Disease/Pharmaceutical Marketing): Defining and advancing peer-to-peer engagement, speaker bureau, KOL, and congress strategies across the U.S. rare disease portfolio with an accent on scientific education, disease-state awareness, diagnosis acceleration, and launch readiness. Focus on governing external expert engagement, coordinating cross-functional compliance, measuring program ROI, and influencing senior leadership through KOL, congress, and competitive insights.
Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; based at the Cambridge headquarters. This is not a field or remote role.
Salary: $190,500–$265,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for short-term incentives.

What you will do
- Own and evolve the peer-to-peer engagement strategy across the U.S. Rare Disease portfolio.
- Develop KOL, speaker, advocate, and peer-to-peer engagement frameworks aligned with portfolio growth and launch priorities.
- Lead the speaker bureau strategy, governance model, contracting oversight, fair market value processes, and HCP transparency practices.
- Define and execute the portfolio congress strategy, including scientific engagement plans, sponsorships, and cross-brand activation.
- Manage agencies and external vendors while overseeing budgets, resource allocation, delivery timelines, and return on investment.
- Establish KPIs, synthesize KOL and congress insights, and provide data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
Requirements
- 12+ years of commercial pharmaceutical experience, including U.S. peer-to-peer, speaker, or HCP marketing in rare disease or specialty markets.
- Proven experience managing speaker bureaus, KOL relationships, peer-to-peer programs, and local, regional, and national congresses.
- Strong understanding of medical, legal, and regulatory requirements for peer-to-peer programs and scientific education.
- Demonstrated cross-functional leadership, senior stakeholder influence, project management, vendor management, and large-budget experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an MBA, PharmD, or MSc is preferred.
- Fluent English required; ability to travel up to 40% for congresses and events.
