Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (US Federal)

TL;DR

Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (Kubernetes): Deploying, operating and supporting a cloud-native service platform on Kubernetes in public and private cloud environments with an accent on automation and system health. Focus on updating platform release cycles, managing vulnerabilities, and ensuring SLOs for latency and error rates.

Location: Must be a US Citizen. Hybrid: At least 50% of time each quarter in the office (Primary location: Reston, VA).

Salary: $148,200 – $264,000 USD

What you will do

• Update the platform continuously in line with major and minor release cycles for Kubernetes, Istio, and Calico.
• Provide level support for the buildout of new customer environments.
• Collaborate with multi-functional teams to develop automation solutions.
• Lead new service team onboarding in partnership with Platform Engineering Architects and Product Managers.
• Maintain overall system health and ensure engineering teams meet agreed SLOs for latency and error rates.
• Manage weekly platform releases and vulnerability remediation to meet customer-facing SLAs.

Requirements

• Must be a United States citizen (naturalized or native).
• 8+ years of SRE/DevOps experience in a distributed systems environment.
• 8+ years of proven experience managing and fixing distributed systems using AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• 5+ years of experience with Linux.
• 5+ years of proficiency in GoLang (preferred), Python, or Ruby.
• 5+ years of experience with Bash/Shell scripting and software development methodologies (code management, CI/CD).

Nice to have

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience developing detailed runbooks and technical documentation.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
