What you will do

• Lead the architecture and technical direction of highly concurrent, distributed backend systems in Go.
• Drive design decisions for the proxy data plane (gateways and relays) and control-plane services.
• Partner with architects, product managers, and SRE leadership to shape multi-quarter system roadmaps.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on secure network protocols and cryptographic systems (TLS/mTLS, key management).
• Lead cross-team code and design reviews to maintain high standards for performance and security.
• Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in distributed, multi-cloud production environments.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in Go (Golang), distributed systems, and network service development at scale.
• Proven experience architecting highly concurrent systems using Go's networking and cryptography libraries.
• Strong proficiency in API design (gRPC/Protobuf and/or RESTful APIs).
• Experience with AWS or other major cloud providers in production-scale environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience establishing engineering-wide standards for Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in PKI, secrets management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault), and credential brokering.
• Familiarity with proxying database, SSH/RDP, and Kubernetes traffic.
• Experience shaping Zero Trust architecture and policy-as-code models.
