Head of Data (AI): Leading the data, analytics, and artificial intelligence strategy for a leading fragrance retailer with an accent on modernizing data platforms, scaling engineering standards, and driving commercial performance. Focus on building high-impact data products, implementing AI/automation solutions, and managing a cross-functional team to support decision-making across retail and ecommerce.

What you will do
- Define and execute the multi-year strategy for data engineering, analytics, AI, and automation.
- Lead and grow the Data team, establishing clear standards, priorities, and development pathways.
- Own the reliability, security, and evolution of the company data platform, including Snowflake and Azure ecosystems.
- Translate business challenges into practical data products, analytical models, and AI-enabled services.
- Act as the senior data adviser to the Executive Leadership Team, bridging technical and non-technical communication.
- Ensure compliance with UK GDPR and maintain robust data governance and security standards.
Requirements
- Must be based in or able to commute to Trafford Park, Manchester, UK
- Substantial commercial experience leading broad data functions or major cross-functional programs.
- Strong hands-on capability in SQL and Python with experience in enterprise data warehousing and lakehouses.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience delivering machine learning, AI, or intelligent automation solutions beyond the proof-of-concept stage.
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, privacy, and operational support.
Nice to have
- Experience with full-stack development or API layers.
- Exposure to MongoDB, SQLite, and modern software development practices like CI/CD.
- Retail, ecommerce, or CRM data experience.
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.
