What you will do

• Partner with the CTO to define and evolve the backend engineering strategy and standards.
• Drive architectural consistency across multiple teams and improve security and reliability practices.
• Guide the transformation of a .NET Framework monolith into a modern, API-first service architecture.
• Act as a technical mentor and coach for backend engineers across the organization.
• Review technical proposals and identify technical risks to ensure system maintainability and scalability.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and patterns to provide genuine business value.

Requirements

• Commercial experience building and operating large-scale backend systems.
• Deep expertise in C#/.NET and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, and software architecture.
• Proven experience defining engineering standards and mentoring engineers across multiple teams.
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services and cloud-native architecture.
• Must be based in the UK

• Experience modernizing large monolithic applications.
• Knowledge of Cloudflare services and edge technologies.
• Experience in financial services, insurance, or other regulated industries.
• Familiarity with observability tooling and SRE practices.
