Engineering Fellow (AI)

TL;DR

Engineering Fellow (AI): Contributing to high-impact research and engineering projects across software, data, or machine learning concentrations with an accent on AI safety, threat intelligence, and adversarial red teaming. Focus on building scalable infrastructure, processing internet-scale datasets, and developing agentic systems to secure frontier AI models.

Location: Must be based in the continental U.S.

Salary: $30–$125 per hour (depending on academic status)

What you will do

• Collaborate on real-world client-facing products and internal research tooling.
• Assist in designing experiments and automation for AI red teaming and abuse detection.
• Brainstorm and implement novel research approaches to AI security challenges.
• Develop cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, or machine learning models based on concentration.
• Support critical initiatives across the project lifecycle from design to deployment.

Requirements

• Must be based in the continental U.S.
• Strong academic background and quantitative foundation.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
• Commitment of up to 20 hours per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
• Full lifecycle project management experience.
• Domain-specific skills in backend architecture, web scraping, or MLOps/Computer Vision.
• Familiarity with RAG, AI agent frameworks, and frontier model architectures.
