TL;DR
Lead Safety Manager (Data Center): Providing strategic health, safety, and environmental leadership across large-scale data center construction projects with an accent on contractor safety, regulatory compliance, and high-risk construction activities. Focus on reviewing RAMS and permit-to-work systems, leading incident investigations, and driving safety performance improvements across complex CSA and MEP interfaces.
Location: Johor, Malaysia; onsite. The role starts on a contract engagement.

What you will do
- Provide strategic leadership for health, safety, and environmental activities across large-scale construction projects and programmes.
- Lead and mentor project safety teams while implementing safety standards, client requirements, HSE plans, and procedures.
- Manage contractor safety through audits, inspections, leadership safety walks, compliance reviews, and performance monitoring.
- Review RAMS, permit-to-work systems, lifting plans, and high-risk work activities to ensure effective controls.
- Lead incident and near-miss investigations, root cause analysis, and preventative improvement actions.
- Advise project teams, clients, contractors, and senior stakeholders on risks, legislation, safety performance, and mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- 10+ years of construction health and safety experience, including leadership responsibility on large-scale projects.
- Recognised health and safety qualification, such as a NEBOSH Diploma, degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
- Professional certification such as CMIOSH, CSP, CRSP, WSHO, or equivalent.
- Experience leading HSE programmes for data centers, life sciences, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong experience managing CSA and MEP construction safety risks, regulatory compliance, risk management, incident investigations, and audits.
- Strong communication, leadership, stakeholder management, reporting, and Microsoft Office skills.
Nice to have
- Experience in a client-side consultancy, project management, or programme management environment.
- Understanding of ISO 45001 and integrated management systems.
- Experience coaching and developing safety professionals.
