Research Scientist (AI/ML): Inventing new AI technologies for fully driverless autonomous trucks and high-fidelity simulators with an accent on end-to-end learning and provable safety. Focus on developing new algorithms for perception, motion forecasting, and generative modeling to push the frontiers of Physical AI.

Location: Must be based in the US or Canada. Hybrid/Remote options available; offices in Toronto, San Francisco, Dallas, and Pittsburgh.

Salary: $158,000 – $269,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead and contribute to AI research projects to develop algorithms for autonomy systems and state-of-the-art simulators.
• Solve complex problems in perception, motion forecasting, controls, sensor simulation, and behavior modeling.
• Leverage advances in transformers, foundational models, LLMs/VLMs, and reinforcement learning to create innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with platform teams to integrate research findings into production systems.
• Publish research findings at top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, and CVPR.
• Champion engineering excellence by ensuring high-quality, well-structured, and tested code.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Robotics, or a similar field (Exceptional Bachelor's students considered).
• Demonstrated research experience via internships, professional work, or publications at top conferences.
• Strong quantitative foundation in linear algebra, calculus, and probability.
• Proficiency in Python.
• Must be based in the US or Canada.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in self-driving technology.
• Proven track record of shipping ML features/models into production.
• Experience mentoring junior researchers or engineers.
• Proficiency in Pytorch, Rust, C++, and/or CUDA.
