Location: Remote within Budapest, Hungary (Hybrid option with Allee office)

Salary: 1.7 - 2.1M HUF gross/month

What you will do

• Maintain and optimize a massive, mission-critical Ruby on Rails monolith (approx. 60% of time).
• Develop REST APIs using Java or Kotlin and Spring Boot (approx. 40% of time).
• Ensure seamless integration of new features across the Ruby and Kotlin ecosystem.
• Solve critical production issues and manage complex legacy logic.
• Collaborate within a high-transparency, opinionated engineering culture.

Requirements

• Strong professional experience with Ruby on Rails and Kotlin/Spring Boot.
• Ability to navigate and manage large, undocumented legacy codebases.
• High level of abstract and conceptual thinking for system architecture.
• Polyglot background with experience across multiple tech stacks.
• Must be based in Budapest, Hungary.
• Direct communication style and ability to handle constructive technical friction.

Nice to have

• Experience with React and TypeScript.
• Knowledge of AWS services including Aurora, Neptune, and OpenSearch.
• Experience with Apache Pulsar or Debezium ETL pipelines.
• Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Spinnaker.
