Salary: $205,000–$225,000 USD or $180,000–$200,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Develop and maintain core runtime surfaces of the AI platform, including agent loops, tool execution, and memory management.
• Build and scale the evaluation system using offline gates and online detector/judge evals on production traces.
• Ensure production reliability through observability using Datadog LLM Obs and lead incident response.
• Manage platform contribution seams by reviewing tool wrappers and evolving the registry and drift-detection contracts.
• Design and implement legal and compliance requirements for the AI platform.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building production backend systems.
• Proficiency with Python, relational databases, and cloud infrastructure (GCP, Kubernetes).
• Proven experience building production LLM-powered systems (agent loops, tool-calling, RAG, or eval infrastructure).
• Ability to own a technical domain, propose API specs, and handle on-call responsibilities.
• Must be based in the US or Canada.
• Strong written communication skills for design docs and PR reviews.

Nice to have

• Experience managing the platform side of a platform/product relationship.
• Experience with SSE or streaming systems.
• Background in compliance-adjacent engineering, such as data minimization and auditability.
• Prior experience at a Staff Engineer level.
