What you will do

• Code and abstract patient records for professional billing purposes.
• Review medical records retrospectively and concurrently for the correct sequencing of diagnoses and procedures.
• Collaborate with billers to resolve coding requests and inquiries.
• Serve as a technical resource for complex coding questions and assist in correcting insurance denials.
• Propose process improvements for registration and charge posting to management.
• Maintain strict compliance with federal, state, and insurance industry regulations.

Requirements

• Coding Certification is required.
• Minimum of two years current experience with ICD-9, CPT coding, and health insurance provider rules.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• High school diploma or GED; post-secondary education is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer information systems.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
