TL;DR

Certified Medical Coder (Medical): Extracting data from medical records to apply appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes for billing and compliance with an accent on ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines. Focus on ensuring coding accuracy, conducting research in Coding Clinics, and collaborating with clinical staff to resolve documentation issues.

Location: Remote within Washington, USA (Required to come onsite for onboarding and equipment pick-up for 2 days)

Salary: $26.74 - $41.35 per hour

What you will do

• Review medical record information to extract data and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure all coding practices follow established compliance guidelines from the AMA and CMS.
• Research Coding Clinics and resolve CCI/LCD/NCD and modifier edits.
• Assist with coding audits from payors and RAC, providing rebuttal letters when necessary.
• Collaborate with clinical staff and providers to resolve coding issues via physician queries.
• Utilize electronic encoder applications and EHR systems such as EPIC, Cerner, or Meditech.

Requirements

• Must be based in Washington, USA for initial onsite onboarding.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional coding experience.
• Certification in RHIT, CCS, RHIA, CPC, CPC-H, CPC-A, or CCA (CCS preferred).
• High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate degree preferred).
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, medical terminology, and insurance billing.
• Proficiency in Anatomy and Physiology.

Nice to have

• Experience working with EPIC EHR.
• Understanding of DRGs for Inpatient Facility coding.
