TL;DR

Entry-Level Microelectronics R&D Engineer (Hardware Security): Conducting technical research and designing microelectronics with an accent on hardware security, vulnerabilities, and anti-tamper techniques. Focus on designing and testing PCBs, simulating analog circuits, and prototyping designs on FPGAs.

Location: Huntsville, AL. Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS security clearance.

What you will do

  • Perform technical research on microelectronic trends and hardware vulnerabilities, including hardware exploitation and side-channel attacks.
  • Design and test printed circuit boards (PCBs) and simulate analog circuits.
  • Prototype hardware designs using field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
  • Develop and implement anti-tamper techniques and hardware security measures.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 (must be explicitly listed on resume).
  • US Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a TS security clearance.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • High attention to detail regarding work organization and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively within both local and distributed teams.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Proficiency in HDL (Verilog, VHDL, System Verilog) and C/C++.
  • Experience with SPICE simulation (LTSpice, Spectre) and PCB design tools (Altium, Allegro).
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and hardware security applications.
  • Experience with Python and embedded programming using Linux OS or bare metal.
