Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer (Federal): Designing and implementing secure, scalable enterprise infrastructure for the US Census Bureau with an accent on requirements engineering and system modernization. Location: Hybrid-Remote: Must be based in or be able to commute to Suitland, MD (anticipated onsite requirement once per week). United States Citizenship is required to obtain the necessary Public Trust security clearance.
Salary: $140,000 - $165,000 USD annually

What you will do
- Lead requirements elicitation sessions with business and technical stakeholders for infrastructure.
- Analyze business processes and operational workflows to identify system requirements.
- Document functional, non-functional, interface, and business requirements (FRD, NFR, BRD).
- Develop user stories, use cases, operational workflows, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity and cloud engineering teams to ensure compliance with Federal standards.
- Maintain requirements traceability and produce technical documentation like Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional systems engineering or related experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- Experience with requirements elicitation for highly available, scalable, and secure enterprise infrastructure.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPNs, firewalls).
- Experience with cloud and on-premises enterprise systems and the SDLC.
Nice to have
- Experience with Sparx Enterprise Architect or similar modeling tools.
- Proficiency with requirements management tools like Jira, IBM DOORS, or Jama.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML.
- Prior experience with the U.S. Census Bureau or Federal systems engineering.
