What you will do

• Define and implement standards for responsible AI, model governance, and production MLOps across the Global Public Sector team.
• Architect and build high-risk strategic AI systems and reusable capabilities, such as production-ready agent implementations.
• Lead the resolution of severe incidents tied to model safety or data integrity and prevent systemic failure.
• Advise client leadership on AI strategy and help define the technical roadmap for the domain.
• Coach and mentor Senior Applied AI Engineers, delegating ownership of technical domains.
• Contribute to recruiting and represent Scale's AI work externally.

Requirements

• 7+ years of engineering experience with a multi-year track record of owning AI/ML systems in production.
• Expertise in training data quality, adaptation methods, fine-tuning evaluation, and balancing cost, latency, and quality.
• Experience owning an AI-powered product end-to-end, including direct involvement in the AI's behavior.
• Track record of establishing enduring technical standards, such as MLOps practices or architectural patterns.
• Ability to operate with and defend technical positions to executive-level clients under pressure.
• Deep experience with regulated, sovereign, or on-premise AI deployment, including auditability and hallucination mitigation.
