CISO (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the New York City or Washington, DC office

Salary: $300,000–$350,000 annually for NYC/DC, adjusted based on experience, interview performance, and location, plus equity.

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end security strategy across network infrastructure, product and application security, cloud and corporate IT, and physical and personnel security.
• Build and lead a security organization capable of defending a carrier-grade network against sophisticated, well-resourced adversaries, including nation-state actors.
• Design security architecture and controls for the company-operated cellular network, from the radio access network through core infrastructure and subscriber data systems.
• Partner with Engineering to embed security into the product development lifecycle and lead threat modeling, penetration testing, red-teaming, and incident response.
• Set security policy for the board and executive team, translate technical risk into business terms, and make trade-offs that preserve important controls.
• Manage external security vendors, auditors, and researchers, including a responsible disclosure and bug bounty program, while promoting a security-first culture.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in information security, including at least 5 years in a senior security leadership role such as CISO, VP Security, or Head of Security.
• Leadership experience in an organization with meaningful infrastructure or regulatory complexity.
• Eligible and willing to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience managing geographically dispersed engineering teams.
• Track record of building security teams and programs from an early stage rather than only operating an inherited mature organization.
• Deep technical credibility in architecture and risk, combined with the ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and the board.
• Strong judgment under ambiguity and ability to move quickly without compromising critical controls.
• Genuine commitment to treating privacy and security as inseparable.

Nice to have

• Direct experience securing telecom, network infrastructure, critical infrastructure, cloud infrastructure providers, fintech, or comparable complex environments, including knowledge of SS7, radio networks, or core carrier systems.
• Experience securing environments with Forward Deployed Engineers and managing complexity related to high-risk travel.
