What you will do
- Champion cross-commodity integration across thermal, HVAC, propulsion, and controls to deliver cohesive vehicle-level performance.
- Lead thermal system integration for active domains including coolant loops, refrigerant systems, and airflow management.
- Drive creative problem-solving for complex thermal performance conflicts using trade matrices to balance cost, mass, and energy.
- Guide the use of analytical tools and simulation methods to evaluate alternatives and recommend data-driven solutions.
- Lead program-specific benchmarking to identify opportunities for enhancing system efficiency and integration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional leadership to ensure technical decisions, risks, and mitigations are accurately documented and communicated.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Thermal/Fluids, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in thermal systems engineering within the automotive or related industries.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Proven technical depth in thermal engineering, including HVAC, coolant loops, and underbody airflow.
- Strong communication and influencing skills to align stakeholders across organizations.
- Ability to report to the Warren, Michigan location at least 3 times per week.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Working knowledge of GM engineering processes (VTS, SSTS, GDM, GMW standards).
- Experience with 1D thermodynamic and 3D CFD analysis.
- DFSS Black Belt Certification.
- Experience with global or multi-region programs and geographically distributed teams.
