Embedded Linux Software Engineer (Linux)

Location: On-site in Gilching, Bavaria, Germany; mobile work is available for one flexible day per week.

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded Linux software for sea-drone autopilots, communication, navigation, mission-specific tasks, and operational evaluation.
• Contribute the embedded software perspective to technical design decisions and new solutions.
• Integrate sensors, cameras, and other components into existing hardware and software environments in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
• Test and evaluate integrations during field tests, including software and hardware interaction.
• Support log evaluation, internal tool development, and other software-specific activities.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of Linux software development experience, preferably with embedded or robotics systems.
• Strong C/C++ proficiency, including C++14 or newer, and proven experience developing Linux applications.
• Knowledge of Linux internals, including system services, device trees, and kernel modules.
• Experience with cross-compilation and build systems such as Yocto or Buildroot.
• Experience with GDB, strace, perf, log analysis, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and release management.
• Technical documentation skills, independent problem-solving ability, and professional communication in English.
