Embedded Software Engineer (Rust)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain reusable embedded flight software for satellite missions.
• Refine software requirements and translate architectural concepts into precise software models.
• Develop, review, and integrate generated and handwritten C code.
• Improve the application core’s architecture, modularity, portability, and configurability.
• Integrate software across processor platforms and real-time operating systems, and develop automated tests.
• Analyse defects, deliver controlled updates, and support releases, configuration management, and qualification activities.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline.
• Several years of experience in embedded or real-time software development, including resource-constrained systems and hardware/software interaction.
• Strong programming skills in C and understanding of software architecture, modular design, and defined interfaces.
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, software integration, and model-based software design, or a strong interest in developing this expertise.
• Interest in maintaining a reusable software product through multiple releases.
• Very good written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Rust, embedded C integration, modelling and code-generation tools, or product-line engineering.
• Knowledge of RTEMS, VxWorks, Embedded Linux, or another real-time operating system.
• Experience with LEON, ARM, RISC-V, multicore systems, concurrency, or deterministic scheduling.
• Knowledge of static analysis, code coverage, requirements-based testing, ECSS, DO-178, or spacecraft avionics.
• Knowledge of German.
