TL;DR
Art Director (Gamedev): Defining and championing the visual direction of RuneScape's next chapter with an accent on environments, characters, UI, and VFX. Focus on leading a large multidisciplinary art team, raising the quality bar for cosmetic content, and aligning artistic priorities with gameplay goals.
Location: Hybrid (Cambridge, UK). Must be based in or willing to relocate to the UK to attend onsite as required.

What you will do
- Own and evolve RuneScape’s visual direction across environments, characters, UI, VFX, and lighting while respecting the game’s identity.
- Lead and develop a large multidisciplinary art team, optimizing structure, capabilities, and craft standards.
- Establish and maintain a clear quality bar, providing actionable direction to improve visual consistency and in-game execution.
- Drive end-to-end improvements to cosmetic content to increase quality and player-perceived value.
- Partner with Creative, Development, and Product Directors to align artistic priorities with gameplay and production goals.
- Collaborate with Technical Art and Engineering to improve pipelines and tools for PC and mobile platforms.
Requirements
- Significant experience in Art Direction or senior art leadership within the games industry on shipped or live titles.
- Proven track record of taking artistic vision through to in-game execution within live-service schedules.
- Experience leading sizeable multidisciplinary art teams, including performance management and organizational change.
- Strong background in stylised or stylised-realistic 3D art, with deep knowledge of 3D pipelines and technical constraints.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating artistic vision and visual problem-solving across multiple disciplines.
- Must be based in or willing to relocate to Cambridge, UK.
