Senior Software Engineer (ML)

Location: Onsite in Columbia, Maryland; applicants must currently reside in the United States

Salary: $150,000–$195,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, implement, integrate, and maintain software applications and services.
• Translate business, system, and customer requirements into reliable technical solutions.
• Develop clean, documented, testable code and build unit, integration, system, and automated regression tests.
• Participate in architecture, design, code reviews, Agile ceremonies, and technical estimation.
• Troubleshoot defects, performance issues, deployment problems, and production incidents.
• Collaborate with data scientists and cross-functional teams on interfaces, data flows, deployments, and operational readiness; mentor less-experienced engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or equivalent experience.
• 8 years of professional software development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.
• Strong proficiency in at least one of Java, C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with software design principles, source control, code reviews, automated testing, defect tracking, and software development lifecycle practices.
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues, communicate effectively, and work in a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed, cloud-based, web-based, embedded, or mission-critical systems.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, messaging systems, or service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, or automated deployment pipelines.
