What you will do

• Define the legal strategy for the global payments platform and design scalable regulatory operating models.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to provide legal guidance on new payment methods and financial services.
• Serve as the subject matter expert on money transmission, AML/BSA, sanctions, fraud prevention, and KYC/KYB.
• Lead legal strategy for regulatory engagements, licensing initiatives, and supervisory examinations.
• Negotiate and structure strategic commercial partnerships with payment processors, banks, and card networks.
• Develop governance frameworks to ensure consistent legal decision-making across multiple jurisdictions.

Requirements

• 12+ years of legal experience with significant expertise in payments, fintech, or financial services.
• Deep knowledge of card network rules, ACH rules, and legal infrastructure for regulated payments businesses.
• Proven success partnering with executive leadership to scale products in highly regulated environments.
• Strong executive presence and the ability to translate legal complexity into business-oriented guidance.
• US-based residency and work authorization required (based on compensation and benefits structure).

Nice to have

• Experience with regulatory regimes in Canada, UK, EU, Australia, and Latin America.
• Expertise in digital assets or emerging payment technologies.
• Background in global marketplace platforms or Trust & Safety.
