Senior Data Engineer

Location: Remote work is available only from the USA in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. Hybrid work is available through physical offices in Austin, Texas, and Tampa, Florida. The role is not eligible for visa sponsorship; candidates must be U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Hiring is unavailable within the city limits of Chicago unless the candidate resides outside the city or is willing to self-relocate.

Salary: $110,000–$200,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, and New York. Compensation depends on location, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What you will do

• Build data foundations and pipelines that support product health, adoption, usage, and performance analytics.
• Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, dbt, and AWS data services.
• Prepare structured and unstructured product, customer behavior, telemetry, event, and streaming data for analysts and data scientists.
• Transform raw data into clean, well-modeled datasets and support feature engineering for downstream modeling.
• Automate and optimize data workflows across data collection, storage, and processing.
• Create dashboards and reports in Tableau and Databricks and collaborate with Product, Engineering, analytics, and data science stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on data engineering and data science.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Expertise in Python and SQL, with experience building ETL pipelines and managing large-scale data systems.
• Strong experience with Databricks, dbt, and AWS data services.
• Experience with data cleaning, preparation, feature engineering, and Tableau or similar business intelligence tools.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident and reside in an eligible U.S. state; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with Unity Catalog, product analytics metrics, adoption and retention analysis, or large-scale telemetry and event data.
• Experience partnering with data scientists or analytics teams on model-ready data pipelines.
• Understanding of generative AI and deep learning frameworks.
• Experience with Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Structured Streaming, or similar streaming frameworks.
