Senior Backend Developer - Travel Rule (Crypto)

Location: Remote-first; this role is open to candidates in multiple countries, with no mandatory office days. Work location and compensation are confirmed during recruitment.

What you will do

• Design and develop backend services for the Travel Rule product, enabling secure data exchange between crypto service providers.
• Build and maintain integrations with third-party providers using partner protocols and APIs.
• Develop asynchronous, event-driven processing for slow, unreliable, or partially available external systems.
• Ensure high reliability, fault tolerance, and observability of distributed services.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams on regulatory and network requirements.
• Own backend components from design through production and long-term maintenance.

Requirements

• Strong backend engineering experience with Java or similar languages.
• Solid foundation in system design and distributed systems.
• Experience building and maintaining external-system and third-party API integrations.
• Experience with asynchronous processing and failure-prone environments.
• Good understanding of databases such as MongoDB, ClickHouse, or similar systems, including data consistency trade-offs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with crypto, blockchain fundamentals, crypto networks, or wallets.
