TL;DR

Research Associate 2 (Biotechnology): Performing laboratory procedures for the RUO Oncology Team with an accent on nucleic acid extraction and next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation. Focus on automating extraction methods, operating NGS platforms, and managing sample inventory via LIMS.

Location: Onsite in San Carlos, CA

Salary: $35 - $44 USD per hour

What you will do

• Extract nucleic acids from whole blood, plasma, and tissue using automated and manual methods.
• Perform library preparation and load samples onto NGS platforms including NovaSeq, iSeq, and MiSeq.
• Determine quantity and quality of nucleic acids using Qubit, Nanodrop, and BioAnalyzer.
• Track sample inventory and maintain accurate lab records via LIMS and internal databases.
• Perform routine laboratory equipment maintenance and escalate malfunctions.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to suggest process improvements.

Requirements

• Master's degree or 3+ years of industrial/academic research experience.
• Must be able to work onsite in San Carlos, CA.
• Flexibility to work shifted schedules (e.g., 7am-4pm, 11am-8pm, 7pm-3am).
• Hands-on experience with NGS platforms and nucleic acid purification/quantification.
• Proficiency in good pipetting practices and LIMS software.
• Must pass a post-offer criminal background check.
