TL;DR
Data Engineer (Python/Databricks): Designing and optimizing an AI-forward data platform for life sciences companies with an accent on scalable data pipelines and cloud-native ETL/ELT workflows. Focus on implementing software engineering best practices, optimizing data processing performance, and integrating AI tools into development workflows.
Location: Hybrid (Durham, Boston, Princeton, Emeryville, Evanston, New York, Rockville). Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent and ongoing basis without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
Salary: $85,000 – $105,000

What you will do
- Design, develop, and support an AI-forward data platform.
- Build scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using Databricks, Python, and PySpark.
- Develop cloud-native data solutions on AWS and Azure.
- Implement software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, version control, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with data scientists and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data products.
- Incorporate AI tools into development workflows to improve engineering productivity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 3+ years of professional data engineering experience.
- Strong programming experience with Python, including pandas and PySpark.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks and cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure).
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Amazon Redshift, or Snowflake.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Experience with ETL platforms like Azure Data Factory, Informatica, SnapLogic, or Boomi.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS ECS.
- Experience developing web applications using Flask, Django, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, or Ajax.
- Industry certifications (Databricks, AWS, Azure/Fabric, or GCP Data Engineer).
- Experience in the life sciences, healthcare, or pharmaceutical industry.
