Senior System Engineer for Exploration, In-Space Transportation and Servicing (Aerospace)

Location: Bremen, Germany. Permanent employment with hybrid work and mobile work abroad.

What you will do

• Lead or act as senior counterpart to the Lead System Engineer for Phase A/B1 studies.
• Coordinate technical contributions from specialist engineering departments and subcontractors.
• Perform high-level analyses and trade-offs to define mission and system architectures.
• Lead platform and subsystem design, including deriving, validating, and maintaining spacecraft requirements.
• Shape development approaches, work breakdown structures, programme plans, and implementation schedules through in-orbit commissioning and validation.
• Assess cost drivers and technical and programmatic risks, and plan mitigation measures.

Requirements

• Master-level degree in aerospace engineering with a focus on space systems.
• At least five years of industry experience in space system engineering or satellite development.
• Strong expertise in space mission design, satellite systems engineering, spacecraft subsystem design, requirements engineering, and specifications.
• Familiarity with science, exploration, or space safety mission concepts.
• Structured, proactive, and responsible working approach with strong communication, presentation, documentation, and ownership skills.
• Business English fluency in spoken and written communication is required.

Nice to have

• Significant experience with Phase 0/A/B1 projects and industrial or institutional proposals.
• Hands-on experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering toolchains and methodologies.
• German language fluency.
