Описание вакансии
TL;DR
Senior Staff Software Engineer, Calibration (C++/Python): Designing and delivering end-to-end calibration systems for production humanoids, with an accent on calibration algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, and validation pipelines. Focus on establishing calibration data/metrics infrastructure, owning sensor and kinematic calibration across modalities, and coordinating deployment with sensor vendors and contract manufacturers.
Location: Remote (U.S.); hybrid option if commutable to Salem, OR, Pittsburgh, PA, or Fremont, CA offices
Salary: $218,000–$340,000 USD
Company
deploys commercially operated humanoids and scales automation through reliable, repeatable robot calibration.
What you will do
- Design, implement, and deliver calibration systems end to end, including algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, data pipelines, validation, and operator workflow.
- Own calibration across perception sensors (RGB cameras, LiDAR, thermal imagers, etc.) and kinematic calibration, including coupling sensor extrinsics with arm and whole-body kinematics.
- Build the calibration data and metrics infrastructure: per-unit records, accuracy/drift metrics, traceability, and fleet-level monitoring.
- Deliver calibration fixture software, including operator-facing applications on Linux.
- Own in-field self-check and recalibration capabilities to maintain calibration validity over Digit’s service life.
- Coordinate with sensor vendors and contract manufacturers on deployment, documentation, operator training, and acceptance criteria; identify, hire, mentor, and develop engineers contributing to calibration.
Requirements
- Work authorization: current authorization to work in the United States
- 10+ years of practical experience calibrating complex robotic or sensor-rich systems in real production environments.
- Proven track record designing and delivering calibration systems end to end (algorithms, fixtures, on-fixture software, validation, operator workflow).
- Deep expertise across multiple sensor modalities and working knowledge of kinematic calibration and coupling sensor extrinsics to kinematics.
- Experience building data and metrics infrastructure that supports calibration at scale.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python; hands-on engineering in both lab and production environments.
Culture & Benefits
- Fully remote role with an option to work hybrid if within commutable distance of Salem, OR; Pittsburgh, PA; or Fremont, CA offices.
- Full-time benefits: 100% company-paid medical, dental, vision, and short/long-term disability insurance; benefits start on the first day.
- 401(k) with 6% company match; equity via company stock options.
- Flexible, unlimited PTO for exempt employees; paid sick leave and vacation for non-exempt employees, plus 12 company holidays and winter shutdown.
- Professional development and tuition reimbursement; Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Parental leave and annual discretionary bonus for eligible roles; relocation assistance for eligible roles.
