TL;DR

Solutions Architect (Event-Driven Streaming): Lead end-to-end product design for real-time data ingestion, processing, and delivery with an accent on streaming architecture, low-latency event-driven microservices, and operationalizing data-intensive capabilities across mission systems. Focus on designing distributed messaging, data contracts/schema evolution, observability and resiliency patterns, and cloud-native deployments with security-by-design.

Salary: $112,900.00–$257,000.00 (annualized, USD)

What you will do

• Define and own streaming architecture (pub/sub, fanout, backpressure) and event-driven microservices for high availability and fault tolerance.
• Select, configure, and scale distributed messaging (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SNS/SQS, WebSockets/gRPC) and API gateways.
• Establish data contracts and schema evolution using Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema with registry, serialization, and compatibility policies.
• Design for observability (OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, SLOs) and resiliency (idempotency, retries, circuit breakers).
• Lead cloud-native deployments on Docker and Kubernetes; guide infrastructure choices across AWS or Azure.
• Set security-by-design standards (encryption, authN/authZ, secrets management) and mentor engineers through design/code reviews and SDLC best practices.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software and solution architecture, design, and production code review.
• 2+ years building real-time services, including WebSockets-driven data pipelines with no observable delay to human users; experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React for console/operations UIs.
• Experience with REST APIs, WebSockets, and C#.
• Experience with Agile methodology and Git-based workflows; experience with AWS and Azure.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data architectures at scale (e.g., PostgreSQL/SQL Server and MongoDB/DynamoDB).
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; ability to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Experience with Big Data technologies (Python, Kafka, Spark/Flink, ksqlDB).
• Experience with performance engineering for low-latency pipelines.
• Experience with C++ or game engines (Unity, Unreal, Prepar3D).
• Secret clearance.
