TL;DR
Sr. Technical Support Engineer (Confluent): Diagnosing and resolving complex Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform issues with an accent on distributed systems troubleshooting, incident ownership, and critical escalations. Focus on analyzing logs and metrics, collaborating with Engineering to identify bugs, and mentoring other TSEs.

What you will do
- Own and manage complex customer cases across production and non-production environments.
- Lead investigations for critical escalations and high-severity incidents.
- Troubleshoot distributed systems, Kafka, Confluent Platform, and customer integrations.
- Define and manage resolution plans, including priorities, dependencies, and risk mitigations.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to identify bugs and improve product quality.
- Mentor and coach other Technical Support Engineers and provide technical guidance across the team.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in software development, technical support, or SRE.
- Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform, Linux, and networking.
- Deep troubleshooting skills across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Ability to analyze logs, metrics, configurations, and source code.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Must be based in the United Kingdom.
Nice to have
- Master's Degree.
- Java development experience.
- Experience with Public Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
- Kubernetes, Docker or containerized environments.
- Observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry.
