Location: Hybrid (Austin, TX) — requires 2 days per week in office

Salary: $160,000 – $250,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead multiple engineering teams in the design, scaling, and maintenance of data infrastructure services at 100s of PBs scale.
• Own the setup, deployment, and management of data plane products used to ingest, process, and enrich event stream data.
• Mentor, train, and hire top-tier data platform engineering talent to grow the organization.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and senior leadership to deliver innovative, scalable products.
• Manage distributed teams and hold meetings across US and EU time zones.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to work from Austin, TX (Hybrid).
• MS in Computer Science or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience in building or managing large-scale data platforms.
• 5+ years of hands-on management experience leading distributed engineering teams.
• Expertise in performance-tuning Spark, Flink, Iceberg, or Pinot, and proficiency in JVM languages (Java, Scala, Kotlin).
• Production experience building real-time data systems at ultra-high scale (minimum 100s of TB/day).
• Knowledge of Terraform, configuration tools (Chef/Puppet/Ansible), and SQL/NoSQL databases.

Nice to have

• Experience developing compute and storage layers for high-scale data platforms.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments (combining cloud and data centers).
• Exposure to container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
