Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Principal Software Engineer (AI/Cloud Infrastructure): Leading the evolution of AI-driven tools within the Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Engineering organization with an accent on embedding LLMs and intelligence into the developer lifecycle. Focus on designing intelligent developer experiences, accelerating code velocity, and scaling threat-intelligent cloud features across multi-cloud environments.

Location: Hybrid in Santa Clara, California (3 days a week in office). No visa sponsorship provided.

Salary: $147,000 - $237,500 per year

What you will do

• Architect the technical roadmap for AI-enhanced developer tools and infrastructure in CIPE.
• Design and implement systems leveraging LLMs, static/dynamic analysis, and ML to improve developer experience.
• Drive improvements in engineering metrics such as code velocity, review cycle time, and test effectiveness.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to align multiple engineering organizations and leadership.
• Develop foundational AI platforms for prototyping and scaling secure cloud features.
• Serve as a technical authority and mentor for senior engineers in AI-augmented cloud platforms.

Requirements

• 9+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of technical leadership and innovation.
• Expertise in developer platforms, cloud-native infrastructure (Kubernetes), and CI/CD.
• Deep proficiency with GCP (IAM, managed databases, networking).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) at scale, including module architecture.
• Hands-on experience applying AI/ML/GenAI to solve complex software engineering problems.
• Must be based in Santa Clara, CA; role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

• Deep expertise in leveraging LLMs and generative AI for building intelligent developer tools.
• Experience building and operating observability stacks for distributed systems.
