Etch Equipment Field Installation and Design Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom; international travel to customer sites is required approximately 50% of the time, sometimes at short notice and for extended periods.

What you will do

• Maintain, develop, and improve semiconductor etch process equipment hardware.
• Build and fault-find new designs in the factory and install and troubleshoot products at customer sites.
• Design wiring harnesses and mechanical systems while improving equipment serviceability.
• Plan and execute hardware testing, validation, performance characterization, and compliance testing against international standards.
• Work with process engineers to optimize hardware reliability and process capability.
• Support technology development from early concepts through customer-ready systems and report customer requirements to the factory.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or minimum HNC in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field, plus approximately 5 years of related work experience.
• Experience in customer-facing engineering and design roles with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Understanding of machinery safety regulations and EU harmonized standards, including EN60204 and EN13849.
• Experience diagnosing faults and applying analytical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or an equivalent tool; 3D CAD experience is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, communicate effectively, and operate across different time zones.
