Staff Platform Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam (3 days per week in office)

Salary: €8,000 – €8,700 per month

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for how engineers and AI agents build and operate software.
• Develop an AI-native developer experience including ephemeral environments, golden paths, and Backstage self-service.
• Scale infrastructure for an agentic AI operating system, including context retrieval and Bedrock model access.
• Implement secure-by-design architecture using OPA authorization, Istio mTLS, IRSA, and Cognito.
• Drive bold architectural changes regarding GitOps, self-service infrastructure, and long-term trade-offs.
• Mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar of the platform team.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of senior platform, DevOps, or SRE experience.
• Proven track record of running Kubernetes (EKS) in production with company-level impact.
• Strong discipline in IaC and GitOps using Terraform, Helm, and Flux or Argo CD.
• Solid experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab.
• AI-native mindset: active use of agentic coding tools like Cursor or Claude Code.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work hybrid from Amsterdam.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with vector stores, RAG, or LLM observability.
• Experience with MCP or Amazon Bedrock/OpenAI infrastructure.
