General Assignment Reporter (News)

Location: Lorain, Ohio, United States; occasional driving between work sites, in-person training sessions, and meetings is required.

Salary: $11.00–$13.00 per hour

What you will do

• Present accurate, fair, and engaging news stories for publication.
• File daily stories, features, photos, and videos for print and digital platforms.
• Maintain existing sources and develop new contacts through professional interviews.
• Coordinate coverage priorities with the city editor.
• Work effectively under deadline pressure and during varied shifts.
• Experiment with emerging digital tools and platforms while contributing to team collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with news reporting and writing, video shooting, social media, and enterprising content.
• Strong reporting, writing, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and story-structure skills.
• Understanding of web, mobile, and print publishing platforms.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Availability for shift work and occasional work-related travel required.
