Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Data Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Milford, Michigan or Warren, Michigan; attendance at the assigned location at least 3 times per week.

What you will do

• Create and improve workflows for simulation data generation, storage, traceability, analysis, and reuse.
• Build automation pipelines for simulation execution, post-processing, reporting, and data quality checks.
• Use GitHub, GitHub Actions, Databricks, and SQL-based tools to manage datasets and automate workflows.
• Connect simulation models, data, and analysis into efficient end-to-end engineering workflows.
• Standardize data structures, metadata, documentation, and workflow best practices.
• Promote data-driven simulation practices through implementations, training, and ongoing guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, software engineering, applied mathematics, statistics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting CAE, simulation, or engineering data workflows.
• Experience with workflow automation, data processing, or tool development for engineering, simulation, analytics, or technical software teams.
• Experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools, scripting, Databricks, SQL, and structured data management.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Existing work authorization is required; GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of experience supporting CAE, simulation, or engineering data workflows.
• Experience with simulation input/output data, post-processing tools, and engineering analysis pipelines.
• Experience with Python, statistical analysis, and data quality or validation workflows.
• Experience in automotive, vehicle dynamics, multibody simulation, or physical simulation environments.
