CAD Modeler (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States. On-site. ITAR eligibility requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.

Salary: $98,000–$167,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build manufacturing-ready 3D models and 2D drawings for naval and aerospace parts from customer prints, drawings, partial models, and legacy documentation.
• Create models and drawings for each manufacturing-state configuration (M-state) of a part.
• Resolve conflicting or unclear drawing views and carry customer changes through customer geometry and related M-states.
• Maintain structured PLM data and release parts through the required workflow.
• Build models usable by tooling, programming, and inspection teams.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to deliver required model and drawing changes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of production CAD modeling and drawing experience for hardware manufactured in a factory.
• Expert use of one parametric 3D CAD application with editable models; Siemens NX is preferred, while CATIA, Creo, or SolidWorks are also accepted.
• Experience creating 3D models from complex 2D drawings without an existing model, including internal features shown only in section views.
• Ability to read and draft GD&T according to ASME Y14.5, weld and NDT symbols according to AWS A2.4, and drawings according to ASME Y14.100.
• Experience releasing parts and controlling changes in a PLM system.
• Ability to ask for clarification when a drawing does not provide enough information instead of guessing.
• Ability to manage release schedules across multiple parts and reprioritize quickly.
• Must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements as a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or person eligible to obtain required authorizations.

Nice to have

• Production experience in Siemens NX.
• Experience with naval or shipyard drawings, customer data packages, and old or hand-drawn prints.
• Experience modeling and drawing in-process M-state configurations that differ from the final customer definition.
• Experience running customer and internal change processes concurrently.
• Background in machined parts, welded assemblies, tooling, CMM, or scan inspection.
• Ability to identify when one parametric model can cover a family of part numbers and build it accordingly.
