What you will do

• Own the design and implementation of platform subsystems end-to-end, from technical design through production.
• Anchor key projects, making critical design tradeoffs to balance reliability, scalability, and time to market.
• Write production-ready code with built-in observability, testing, and error handling.
• Produce clear design documents and work breakdowns to guide team planning and implementation.
• Mentor SWE and SWE II engineers and foster a high-standard code review culture.
• Contribute to the open-source ToolHive codebase and collaborate with the external community.

Requirements

• Deep proficiency in Go with a track record of building production-grade backend or platform systems.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies, including operators, isolation, and networking.
• Proven experience designing and shipping complete systems from architecture to production.
• Demonstrated experience as a tech lead, mentoring engineers and driving quality improvements.
• Experience designing for reliability and observability, including monitoring and evaluation.
• Must be based in North America (strong preference for the U.S. Eastern Time Zone).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• AI-first mindset, integrating AI tools into development to improve shipping velocity.
• Experience building platform services such as gateways, registries, or deployment tooling.
