What you will do

• Design, build, and operate production backend services using Rust and other high-performance technologies.
• Own backend components from initial design through deployment, observability, and ongoing maintenance.
• Incrementally modernize existing systems to reduce technical debt while ensuring business continuity.
• Define service boundaries, API contracts, and data models to support long-term maintainability.
• Debug complex production issues across services, data flows, and deployment pipelines.
• Leverage AI-assisted and agentic coding tools to accelerate implementation and testing.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United Kingdom
• Professional experience shipping and operating Rust services in a production environment.
• Strong background in building APIs, distributed systems, and data-intensive platform capabilities.
• Proven architectural judgment regarding scalability, performance, and system reliability.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or comparable) and CI/CD automation.
• Ability to write clean, testable, production-grade code with high standards for documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with RAG tools, vector databases, embeddings, or search infrastructure.
• Background in designing resilient integrations across multiple distributed data stores.
