TL;DR

Mechanical Assembly Apprentice: Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of electrical control panels with an accent on safe engineering operations, accurate documentation, and quality checks. Location: Onsite at Haydock Production Facility (Haydock, England, WA11 9UX) with day release at Warrington Vale Royal College

What you will do

• Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of electrical control panels.
• Wire and terminate different types of cabling (e.g., single core, multi core, screened, fire resistant, armoured).
• Assemble and test electrical components (e.g., isolator switches, fuses, circuit breakers, contactors, relays, terminal blocks).
• Assemble and test electronic components (e.g., resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors).
• Follow job documentation, specifications, and work instructions; extract required data from technical documents.
• Perform required quality checks and restore equipment/systems to service after assembly and testing.

Requirements

• Apprenticeship standard at level 2 (Engineering Operatives).
• GCSE (or equivalent) grade 4 or better in English Language and Mathematics is essential.
• Comply with health and safety legislation, environmental compliance procedures, and safe working/isolation procedures.
• Ability to identify hazards and deal with risks within the limits of responsibility.
• Good communication skills (oral, written, electronic) and accurate completion of documentation.
• Willingness and passion to develop skills within the industry; hardworking, confident, and organised.
